Wind Turbines, Banned?

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Will wind turbines be banned in western North Carolina? Well that is the debate when a bill to allow wind turbines in the mountains was changed by several co-sponsors. Orginally co-sponsored by Senator Steve Goss, the bill was introduced on March 31st to permit wind turbines but to exclude them from Ridge Law Provisions. However, the bill was changed by several senators to ban all wind turbines on ridge tops as it was on its way to the Senate Agricultural, Environment and Natural Resources Committee. This change could potentially hurt not only future wind projects, but also the recently installed wind turbine on the ASU campus.
