ASU Women's Golf Defeats SoCon Rival Citadel


Lauren Smith carded a 77 to lead Appalachian State University women’s golf to a win over Southern Conference rival The Citadel and host Dayton in Sunday’s Dayton/Hilton Head Invitational. The Mountaineers carded a 326 on the challenging Belfair Club West course in the small three-team competition. The Citadel placed second at 343 and the Flyers rounded out the field at 360 . The Citadel’s Erica Pellegrini took home the individual title at 76. It was the squad’s second tri-match of the season, as ASU placed second at Wofford in late February. Appalachian opens its Spring Break schedule on March 10-11 at Richmond’s Spider at St. James tournament in Southport, N.C
