Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Golf Teams Finish 5h and 8th


The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Golf Teams finished fifth and eighth, at the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championships which concluded Tuesday at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa. On the men's side, the Bears shot a 920 ,while Wingate won by 15 strokes over Newberry with an 877. Lenoir-Rhyne was led by sophomore David Glenister , who earned all-tournament honors after tying for 10th with a 225. Newberry's Matthew Campbell was the top individual with a one-under 215. In the women's competition, L-R placed eighth overall with a 1028 while Newberry won the conference crown after shooting a 919. Sophomore Grace Brahler was the Bears' top golfer for the tournament after finishing with a 247. Newberry's Maria Luz, the 2012 SAC Player Of The Year, won the championship after carding a 218 over 54 holes of play. Both the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Golf Teams have concluded their seasons. L-R, however, will host the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Golf South/Southeast Super Regional Tournament on May 7-9 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C.
