ASU Men's Track & Field Perpares For Penn Relays

Fresh off their third-straight Southern Conference Outdoor championship, Appalachian State University men's track and field will send a strong delegation of athletes to the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend. The Mountaineers, who edged out SoCon rival Western Carolina at the league championships on Sunday, will send a total of nine athletes to the Keystone State to compete in the 118th running of the Penn Relays. Josh Cox, AJ Dohanic, Landon Powell, Dennis Moore, Will Raby, Sean Soderman, Jamal Tiller, Darius Purcell and Chris Moen will comprise ASU's contingent of athletes this weekend. Moen, Cox and Soderman put forth a strong showing over the weekend at the SoCon Championships as the trio took the top three spots in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while Raby finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run. Moore successfully defended his 100-meter dash title and was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash. Powell was the runner-up in the 100-meter event and finished fourth in the 200-meter dash. Dohanic brought home the title in the 110-meter hurdles for the Apps and Purcell finished second to teammate Daryl Saunders in the high jump. Tiller will round out Appalachian's competitors at the Penn Relays after finishing second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump at the conference championships. The Penn Relays mark the last of three meets for the Mountaineers before the NCAA East Prelims. Appalachian will also compete in meets at North Carolina and Clemson next weekend.
