Crossnore FBC Holds hunters Helping Kids Banquet

First Baptist Church of Crossnore recently was host to the Avery County Chapter of Hunters Helping Kids Banquet and Auction. Tony Hunter and Randall Clark of Hunters Helping Kids both commented on how pleased they were to see this great turnout and it was a testimony to the support of Avery County. Randal said Hunters Helping Kids focuses solely on the kids, and how they can help them, not only in teaching them gun safety along with hunting and fishing, but also any kids that may have medical issues the funds raised here and in other events will be donated to them. A local bluegrass band performed before the event as folks walked around looking at all the great gifts that would be auctioned off later in the evening. At 7 pm the buffet line was open and all the folks were able to enjoy a great meal before the auction began. President Tony Hunter paid a surprise tribute to Mary Ann and Maggie before the auction. These ladies work very hard in selling raffle tickets and also during the auction, Tony said we just want to show our appreciation to them. Courtney Long a local pottery artist donated several pieces of beautiful pottery to the event. This night raised over 12,500.00 and every penny of that will go to the kids in Avery County Mr. Hunter said, as we are a 501 3c organization. MTN 18 has invited both Avery and the Watauga Chapter of Hunters Helping Kids to our studios in Boone for an in studio interview to go into more detail of this great organization.
