Ashe Drug Sting Produces 5 Arrests


5 people were arrested yeaterday evening in an undercover sting operation with the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff James Williams stated the arrests were the result of an undercover sting operation by his narcotics officers on April 16th, 2012 regarding the sale of Opium, a Schedule I narcotic. The suspects are currently being held in the Ashe County Detention Center. 30 year old Maggie Michelle Brooks,of  Lansing was charged with 1 count of Conspiring to Deliver a Schedule I Narcotic, Possession with Intent to Sell a Schedule I narcotic and Possession of a Schedule I narcotic.  Brooks was given a $75,000 bond. 34 year old Robert David Mahala, of  Lansing was charged with 1 count of Conspiring to Deliver a Schedule I Narcotic, Possession with Intent to Sell a Schedule I narcotic and Possession of a Schedule I narcotic.  Mahala was given a $75,000 bond. 63 year old William Roby Hicks of in West Jefferson was charged with 5 counts of Trafficking Opium and 1 count of Conspiring to Deliver a Schedule I Narcotic.  Hick’s was given a cumulative $75,000 bond. 34 year old Michael James Dishman JR of  West Jefferson was charged with 1 count of Conspiring to Deliver a Schedule I Narcotic, Possession with Intent to Sell a Schedule I narcotic, Possession of a Schedule I narcotic and Felony Possession of Cocaine.  Dishman was given a cumulative $55,000 bond. 25 year old Brian Keith Dishmanof 718 West Jefferson Ave in West Jefferson was charged with 1 count of Conspiring to Deliver a Schedule I Narcotic.  Dishman was also charged with Possession with Intent to Sell a Schedule II narcotic from a 2011 undercover operation.  Dishman was given a cumulative $55,000 bond. All 5 suspects are currently being held in the Ashe County Detention Center.
