Man Arrested After Stealing Car In Walmart Parking Lot


Boone Police have made an arrest in which a vehicle was stolen from the Walmart parking lot here in Boone. Yesterday, Boone Police arrested 38 year old Tommie Joe Booher of Sugar Grove. This comes after an investigation in which between the hours of 6:45 pm on June 4th and 11:30 am on June 7th, a vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of Walmart in Boone. The victim’s vehicle was described as a 1999 silver Chevrolet Lumina sedan. The incident was recorded on video surveillance and a photo (attached) of the suspect vehicle was taken by a witness at the time of the incident. From there Police were able to identify the vehicle, charging Booher with one count of felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Mr. Booher was arrested on a Boone Police Department warrant by the Watauga Sheriff’s Department after receiving a tip on his whereabouts. Booher was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate and was issued a court date of 08-28-2012 and was held on a $6,500.00 secured bond.
