Boone PD Officers Honored At Town Council Meeting
Boone Police Department is proud to announce the awarding of the Advanced Law Enforcement Certification to three officers. Lieutenant Donnie Goodman, Sergeant Geoffrey Hayes, and Sergeant Robert “Bobby “Creed, were approved to receive the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate by a vote of the full Commission at their May 2012 meeting. The Commission’s Professional Certificate Program is designed to reward and recognize officers who continually strive to better themselves professionally, by attending various schools and training sessions, above and beyond what is currently mandated by the State of North Carolina. Officers must also have several years of full-time experience, as well. This certification is the highest such honor awarded by the State, and recognizes education, training and experience by the recipient. Lieutenant Donnie Goodman is a 13-year police veteran, serving with the Beech Mountain Police Department before joining the Boone Police Department in 1999. He is the supervisor of Baker district in the Patrol Division. Sergeant Geoffrey “Geoff” Hayes is a 14-year police veteran, serving with the Wilkesboro Police Department before joining the Boone Police Department in 2002. He is the supervisor of a patrol squad assigned to Baker district. Sergeant Robert “Bobby” Creed is a 9-year police veteran, serving with the Boone Police Department since 2003. He is the supervisor of a patrol squad assigned to Adam district. These officers were presented their awards at the July 17, 2012 Boone Town Council meeting.
