ASU Linebacker Rizor Charged with Assault
New details in a story we brought to you earlier this week in sports after ASU linebacker John Rizor was dismissed from the team. According to the Boone Police Department, Rizor was charged with misdemeanor assault after an altercation in downtown Boone early Sunday morning. According to the report, Rizor and another suspect, 23 year old Donte Dabney, were in downtown Boone early Sunday morning when they attacked ASU Students Will Cocker and Andrew McKinnon. Police arrived on the scene to find the two victims sitting on the sidewalk in a pool of blood. After recieving a description of the suspect's vehicle, ASU Police pulled over Rizor and Dabney along with another passenger on River Street. Both Rizor and Dabney were charged with simple physical assault and are scheduled to appear in court on September 11th. Both of the victims were treated and released from the Watauga Medical Center. Rizor is also still awaiting trial in Avery County after being charged with driving while impaired earlier this year.
