Ashe Man Bitten By Rabid Dog
For the second time this summer, officials are warning high country residents of another rabies alert. The alert was given out to Ashe County Residents after the report of a man being bitten by a stray rabid dog in the Crumpler Community. According to the Ashe County Animal Control, the man was bitten on July 27th, then transported the dog to Ashe County Animal Control the next day where it was then euthanized and sent to Raleigh for rabies testing. The test was confirmed positive on August 1st. The bite victim was then alerted and began rabies post-exposure treatment. Officials are warning all residents in the Crumpler area to be on the lookout for any suspicious acting animals.
