The Tech Effect
Technology plays a large role in modern day society and many teens have to deal with the daily pressures of cyber-bullying, pornography and sexting. The Tech effect is an upcoming local event on Sunday, April 1st at 3 pm at Watauga High School. Everyone is welcome and it is a conference on technology and morality where teens will learn how to avoid the negative effects of technology and parents will learn how to keep up with media and to know what to look for. It will begin in the Watauga high school's Ross Auditorium at 3pm and last until 6pm. Alan Flora of the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation will open the conference and then everyone will break up into 3 different groups. The parents will stay with Alan Flora, while the girls will be lead by Merrie Johnson and the boys lead by Chris Wilson. Rhonda Gailes, a local parent and youth leader put together this event and she has a few more words about The Tech Effect. The conference is free and is sponsored by Boone Youth area ministries and everyone is encouraged to attend.
