Watauga Volleyball defeated TC Roberson 3-0 in the first round of the state playoffs, Watauga advances to the second round and will play Tuesday.
Pioneer tennis stand out Shannon Herndon advanced to the semi-finals and a guaranteed place in the state tournament in Raleigh with a first round straight sets win, followed by a second round straight sets win over the number 1 player from Lake Norman High School who came into the tournament 16-1. Shannon will play the defending state champion, Grace Baker of Myers Park Saturday for a chance to advance to the finals. Hannah Petersen was defeated in the first round. In doubles Laura Gulliver and Katelin Fox won in the first round but lost in the second round.
