For one last time, MTN presents our High School Football Players of the Week.
The Ugly Mugg Avery Vikings of the week are Alex Villanueva, Andy Gonzales and Colton Blackburn. Villanueva went 14 for 23 passing for 133 yards in the Vikings loss to Bessemer City. Andy Gonzales caught 9 of those passes for 100 yards, and Colton Blackburn was active on both sides of the ball, getting 56 rushing yards on 13 carries and leading the Viking defense with 6 tackles, 4 solo tackles, 1 sack and a fumble recovery. Alex Villanueva, Andy Gonzalez and Colton Blackburn are this week's Ugly Mugg Vikings of the Week.
The MTN Watauga Pioneers of the Week are Jordon Pineda and Logan Smith. Pineda totaled 12 tackles in the Pioneers loss to Ragsdale, Logan Smith was right behind with 10 tackles, and each of them had a solo tackled. While the Pioneer offense was stymied by Ragsdale, Watauga's defense kept things close in the first half, led by our MTN Pioneers of the Week, Jordan Pineda and Logan Smith.
